Plus, you can measure out your dressing and take it with you to work or to your favorite restaurant. Ingredients
- Mayo - Mayo is a key ingredient in tomatillo ranch dressing because it adds a creamy, smooth texture that helps balance the bright, tangy flavors of the tomatillos. It also serves as a base that holds the dressing together, giving it the rich consistency that makes ranch dressing so popular.
- Cilantro - The bright, zesty kick of cilantro pairs perfectly with the tanginess of the tomatillos, helping to balance the richness of the mayo and other ingredients. It also brings a burst of freshness that complements the creamy base, making the dressing more complex and flavorful. Cilantro’s unique flavor profile is what makes this dressing stand out.
- Tomatillo - Tomatillos are the star ingredient in tomatillo ranch dressing because they provide a fresh, tangy, and slightly tart flavor that sets it apart from traditional ranch dressings. Their natural acidity brightens up the dressing, adding a zesty punch that balances the richness of the mayo and other creamy ingredients.
- Jalapeño - Jalapeño adds a subtle heat and depth of flavor to tomatillo ranch dressing. The mild spiciness from the jalapeño perfectly complements the tangy, zesty tomatillos, creating a balance between fresh and fiery elements. It also enhances the dressing with a slight smokiness, depending on whether it's used fresh or roasted. The jalapeño's heat level is easily adjustable, allowing you to customize the spiciness to your taste, making it a great way to add an extra kick without overwhelming the other flavors in the dressing.
- Lime - Lime is used in tomatillo ranch dressing to brighten the flavor and add a refreshing, tangy kick. The acidity from the lime complements the tartness of the tomatillos and helps to balance the creaminess of the mayo and other ingredients. It also enhances the overall freshness of the dressing, bringing a zesty citrus note that elevates the other flavors.
- Dill - Dill is a key herb in traditional ranch dressing, so it helps maintain that familiar flavor profile while adding a unique twist when paired with tomatillos.
- Onion Powder - Onion powder brings a mild sweetness, which can help to mellow out the acidity of the tomatillos and lime, providing a balanced and harmonious taste.
- Garlic Powder - Unlike fresh garlic, which can sometimes have a strong, pungent flavor, garlic powder offers a milder, more rounded taste. This makes it ideal for a dressing where you want the garlic flavor to blend seamlessly with the other ingredients without overwhelming the dish.
- Sea Salt - Sea salt helps to elevate the overall flavor of the dressing, bringing out the tanginess of the tomatillos and the creaminess of the mayo without overpowering the other ingredients. My favorite and recommended salt is from Redmond. Redmond Sea Salt is unrefined, meaning it retains the natural trace minerals found in seawater, such as magnesium, potassium, and calcium. - Black Pepper - Black pepper is a common seasoning that pairs well with nearly all savory ingredients. It's a versatile addition that adds just the right amount of seasoning to elevate the overall dish.
