APPLE CRISP
Chilly fall nights call for a nice warm treat snuggled up watching something with loved ones. My girls and I enjoyed some time together in the kitchen as we made this family favorite fall treat….we actually eat it all year long!!
Why we love Apple Crisp:
Apples and apples! Who can say no to a treat with apples. Seems to me that it's more of a guilt free treat when you are eating fruit!
This apple crisp is simple to make. Plus it is GLUTEN FREE and DAIRY FREE!
Apple crisp is my husbands favorite treat. He requests this for his birthday rather than cake!
Ingredients
- Granny Smith Apples - tart firm apples that pair perfectly with sugar for the perfect balance.
- Gluten Free flout blend - my favorite gluten free flour blend is Better Batter. This company uses clean ingredients and is certified gluten free. The texture always turns out perfectly with this blend. Use code GFMACROS to save 30%
- Sugar - helps with flavor, color and texture. I have not played with refined sugar in this recipe but would assume coconut sugar could work well.
- Cinnamon - helps with flavor and that amazing fall baking smell!
- Lemon juice - Lemon juice adds tartness and acidity to balance out the sweetness of apples
- Gluten Free oats - Oats give the perfect texture to the crumb topping. Oats are high in fiber, can help with digestion and may help lower cholesterol. Please be sure to check your oats if you have Celiac Disease. I only buy and use purity protocol oats. My favorite is from Bakery on Main.
- Brown Sugar- Brown sugar gives baked goods a light caramel color. The molasses in brown sugar helps baked goods retain moisture, resulting in softer, denser baked goods.
- Butter - Butter adds a rich, creamy flavor that's hard to replicate with other fats. For dairy free I like Melt Organics and Miyokos
